2. Information the app processes
Training data may include your selected course, study progress, scores, settings, spoken answers, answer transcripts, and the feedback produced during a practice session. Logbook data may include photographs and cropped portions of paper logbook pages, dates, aircraft and airport identifiers, flight-time entries, instructor notes, remarks, corrections, approval status, and exported CSV files. Purchase information is handled by Apple. Checkride Mentor receives purchase status and product identifiers needed to unlock purchased features, but does not receive or store your complete payment-card number. The app and secure service may also process limited technical information needed for security and reliability, such as Firebase App Check verification, request timing, error messages, job progress, and device-side cache statistics.
3. Camera, photos, and microphone
Camera and photo-library access is used only when you choose to scan, import, or save logbook pages. Microphone access is used only when you start a spoken training session. Recorded student answers are sent to the secure Checkride Mentor service and OpenAI for transcription. The resulting transcript may be processed to evaluate the answer and continue the training conversation. Voice recordings are used to complete that request and are not presented as a permanent student record inside the app.
4. AI and service providers
Checkride Mentor uses service providers only to operate app features. Google Cloud services support the secure backend, job processing, temporary file handling, AI-assisted logbook extraction, and generated speech. OpenAI services support voice transcription, answer evaluation, conversational feedback, and independent verification of difficult logbook fields. Apple provides app distribution, device permissions, and in-app purchase processing. Information sent to a provider is limited to what is needed for the feature you requested. These providers process information under their own agreements and privacy protections. Checkride Mentor does not authorize providers to use your information for advertising on our behalf.
5. Storage, caching, and retention
Training preferences, progress, approved logbook entries, captured-page references, edits, and local usage reports may remain on your device until you delete them, start the import over, or remove the app. During server-backed logbook conversion, uploaded page images are stored temporarily so processing can continue if the app is closed. Temporary uploaded images are deleted after the processing job completes. Job status and extracted results may be retained for recovery, security, troubleshooting, and reuse of cached results. Generated speech and logbook transcription results may be cached on the device or secure backend. Caching avoids repeating the same paid AI request and improves speed. A fresh AI re-scan bypasses a saved result and may create a new processing charge.
6. Sharing and disclosure
We share information with the service providers described above only to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the features you request. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate protections. CSV files are shared only when you choose an export or share destination. Third-party logbook applications that receive an exported file are governed by their own privacy policies.
7. Your choices and deletion
You can deny camera, photo, or microphone permission in iPhone Settings, although the related feature will not work. You can use Start Over in the Logbook Converter to permanently delete that import from the app after confirming the warning. Removing the app deletes its locally stored data from that device. To request deletion of server job data or ask a privacy question, contact Checkride Mentor support. Include only the information needed to locate the request; never send passwords, API keys, or full payment-card information.
8. Security
Checkride Mentor uses encrypted network connections, app-verification controls, and a secured backend so private AI credentials are not embedded in the iPhone app. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
9. Children
Checkride Mentor is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information, contact support so it can be reviewed and deleted.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as features, providers, or legal requirements change. The current effective date appears on this page. Questions and privacy requests may be submitted to Checkride Mentor support.

1. Agreement
By downloading, purchasing, or using Checkride Mentor, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. You must be legally permitted to use the app and to accept these terms.
2. Training aid—not an official authority
Checkride Mentor is an educational practice and logbook-conversion tool. It is not the FAA, a designated pilot examiner, an aviation medical or legal advisor, a flight instructor, or an official system of record. Questions, grading, explanations, regulatory references, speech recognition, and AI responses can be incomplete or wrong. Always verify current requirements with official FAA publications, the applicable ACS, regulations, aircraft documents, and a qualified instructor or examiner.
3. Logbook conversion and user verification
AI transcription can misread handwriting, dates, aircraft identifiers, airports, remarks, signatures, decimal values, struck-through entries, or column boundaries. You are responsible for comparing every page and entry with the original paper record before approval or export. Page totals and calculated column totals are review aids, not a guarantee of accuracy. Keep the original paper logbook and independent backups. Do not rely on Checkride Mentor as the only copy of any legally significant flight record. You are responsible for confirming that a CSV meets the requirements of its destination before import.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the answers, logbook photographs, entries, notes, and other content you provide. You grant Checkride Mentor and its service providers a limited license to transmit, crop, process, cache, store temporarily, reproduce, and format that content only as needed to provide, secure, recover, and support the features you request. You represent that you have the right to provide the content. Do not upload another person’s private records without authorization.
5. Purchases
Available products, prices, billing periods, trials, and renewal terms are shown in the Apple purchase screen before you confirm a purchase. Apple processes payment and controls refunds. Restore Purchases can be used for eligible purchases associated with your Apple Account. If an auto-renewable subscription is offered, it renews through Apple unless canceled in your Apple Account subscription settings before renewal. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Access may change when a purchase expires, is refunded, or cannot be verified.
6. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service, bypass security or purchase controls, upload unlawful or harmful material, interfere with other users, attempt to obtain private service credentials, or use automated methods that unreasonably burden the service. Do not use the app while operating an aircraft or vehicle when doing so would be unsafe or unlawful.
7. Intellectual property
Checkride Mentor’s software, design, branding, original questions, explanations, characters, and other app content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms grant a personal, limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to use the app. They do not transfer ownership of Checkride Mentor content.
8. Availability and changes
Internet, microphone, Apple, Google Cloud, OpenAI, and other service availability can affect app features. We may update, repair, limit, replace, or discontinue features to improve safety, accuracy, cost, or compliance. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.
9. Disclaimer and limitation
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. Checkride Mentor is not responsible for a failed checkride, training decision, regulatory violation, lost record, rejected import, or other loss caused by relying on unverified app output. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded. Where a liability limit is permitted, total liability relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid for the affected product during the twelve months before the claim.
10. Suspension and termination
Access may be suspended or terminated for fraud, abuse, security threats, unlawful use, or material violation of these terms. You may stop using the app at any time. Purchase and subscription cancellation remain subject to Apple’s processes.
11. Governing terms and contact
Apple’s applicable App Store terms also govern your download and purchases. If these terms conflict with nonwaivable law, that law controls. Questions may be submitted to Checkride Mentor support.
